Daily Mail owner awards print contracts after Didcot closure

HARMSWORTH Quays Printing group production director Julia Palmer-Poucher and Johnston Press managing director group services division print and logistics David Crow watch copies of the Daily Mail coming off the presses at Portsmouth Web.

Johnston Press has begun printing copies of the Monday to Saturday Daily Mail at its Portsmouth Web facility in Hampshire, while Newsprinters is printing the Daily Mail and The Mail on Sunday at its Broxbourne site in Hertfordshire and the Daily Mail only at its plant in Knowsley, Merseyside.

This follows dmg media’s decision to cease production at its Didcot print site in Oxfordshire. Its Daily Mail and The Mail on Sunday copy has transitioned to the company’s existing print site in Thurrock, Essex, with the remainder shared between Johnston Press and Newsprinters.
