THE Printing Charity president Baroness Dean will be the guest speaker at the organisation's 190th annual luncheon on Thursday 23 November at Stationers’ Hall, Ave Maria Lane, London.
The Labour Peer started her working life in the Trade Union movement and, as Brenda Dean, was elected general secretary of SOGAT (the Society of Graphical and Allied Trades), the printing, publishing and paper trades union. She was created a life Peer in 1993 and a member of the Privy Council in 1998.
“The Printing Charity does a great job and I’m proud to be its 2017 president. I’ve enjoyed continuing my association with what is now a wide-ranging industry, as well as supporting the annual Print Futures Awards. The charity’s annual luncheon is a brilliant networking event for people in the industry,” she said.
Her current appointments include chairman of Empiric Student Property plc, chairman of Residential Secure Income plc and an independent member of the Business Oversight Board of the Law Society. She is a vice-president of The War Widows’ Association, president of the Abbeyfield Society charity, and a trustee of University College NHS Hospital Foundation Cancer Charity.
Past appointments include that of chairman of the Housing Corporation, chairman of the Armed Forces Pay Review Body, member of the Royal Commission on the Future of the House of Lords and the House of Lords Appointments Commission.
Tickets for the annual luncheon cost £95 per person. To order tickets, please call Lucy Phillips on 01293 649 367, email firstname.lastname@example.org or book directly through Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/190th-annual-luncheon-tickets-35076649202
