NEWSQUEST Media Group reports that daily visitors to its local websites grew to 1.48 million between July and December 2016 – a 15.1% rise on the same period the previous year.
Drawing on latest ABC figures for the six month period, Newsquest says the numbers show that the group "continues to deliver strong audience growth across its network of over 160 local sites".
There was particularly strong growth from the likes of the Glasgow Evening Times and Oxford Mail that saw their online daily visitors grow by 49% and 39% respectively, says Newsquest.
In January 2017, 27 million unique users visited the Newsquest online network (source: Adobe Analytics).
“It’s encouraging to see Newsquest’s local sites continuing to deliver strong overall audience growth, whilst we are also seeing strong growth in user engagement in both returning visitors and page impressions," says Newsquest Media Group editorial development director Toby Granville.
"Many of our sites now reach over 70% of the adult population of their towns and cities at least once a month, giving our advertisers a phenomenally powerful local audience.”
